A couple has been charged with child endangerment and producing cannabis plants, actions that the police allege endangered the life and health of their three children. According to a criminal complaint, police discovered and seized more than 500 cannabis plants growing inside the couple’s home in Crystal Lake, Wis. last week, reports the Lake & McHenry County Scanner . The police also found US$7,200, numerous valuable watches and other foreign currency. Meixia Feng, 37, and Shuigen Wang, 41, were charged and initially being held in the McHenry County jail on a US$50,000 bond each, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner . Facebook reaction was swift, and mostly at odds with the actions taken by authorities. “Crazy people. They shouldn’t have a child in their home nor should they remain out of jail time,” one posted noted. Many of the posts struck a harsh tone but were directed toward the police or state. “How exactly were their children endangered??? Stop locking up citizens for victimless crimes!!!!” noted one. “No victim. No crime. Release these parents and make them pay for a tax stamp,” added another. “This state has passed a medical CBD law allowing for the use of cannabis extracts that are high in CBD and low in THC in instances where a physician has recommended such treatment to a patient with a state-qualifying condition,” notes information from the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws…
