The Public Question No. 1 referendum comes after years of failed attempts to legalize adult-use cannabis in the state legislature. This year’s referendum effort raised more than $2 million in campaign contributions, most of which were given to cannabis-legalization campaign NJ CAN 20 and political advocacy group Building Stronger Communities Action Fund.
