The 2022 World Series of Poker just wrapped up with Espen Jorstad of Norway winning the $10 million prize. Jorstad outlasted a field of 8,663 players to win his first WSOP main event. While we don’t know if Jorstad is a cannabis enthusiast or not, there’s no denying that the use has played a role in WSOP events over the years. Some players use cannabis as a way to relieve stress after the anxiety of the event, while others use it to stay calm during play when tension is at its highest and million-dollar decisions are made every minute. The same can also be said for those who chose to play from home by relaxing with the best poker sites that the internet has to offer, so what are the connections between cannabis and poker? Cannabis and Poker In 2006 Brian Micon broke into his version of Michael Jackson’s Thriller dance after his seven-high straight earned him a pot victory. Many thought it at the time, but Micon confirmed to High Roller Radio that he was “smoking weed” at the time – and it obviously didn’t affect his play as he went on to win $122,000 during the tournament. Micon is just one of many professional poker players who have no qualms about discussing their use of cannabis before, after, and during these high-stakes events. Dutch Boyd has said that “marijuana is a part of poker” and he’s won three WSOP bracelets and had made nearly $3 million in earnings as of 2017. The 2022 World Series of Poker was held at Bally’s Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas. Normally we feel that Sin City is a place where nearly everything is legal, but in fact, casinos do not allow marijuana use on their property or even in private hotel…
