Vermont: Licensing Update: Board Issues Eight More Licenses

In the latest  Cannabis Control Board meeting, board members approved eight more licenses, including a testing laboratory, in its latest round of licensure recommendations. •    Clover Hill Cannabis, LLC  (Tier 1 Indoor Cultivator) •    Fantasia Farm (Tier 1 Outdoor Cultivator) •    DBA Off Piste Farm (Tier 1 Outdoor Cultivator) •    DBA Kodiak’s Treasure (Tier 1 Outdoor Cultivator) •    Shindig & G’s Craft Cannabis, LLC (Tier 1 Outdoor Cultivator) •    Duke’s Diesel, LLC (Tier 1 Indoor Cultivator) •    Birdland, LLC (Tier 1 Outdoor Cultivator) •    Bia Diagnostics (Testing Laboratory) Notably, this round of approvals was the first to include first general priority status licenses, which includes Off Piste Farm, Birdland LLC and Bia Diagnostics. Until today, all licenses approved have been priority (social equity) or expedited (economic empowerment) status. As of June 3, the Board has received a total of 555 prequalification applications and 219 license applications are awaiting review. “We are issuing licenses at a good rate [and] we’re about to add more staff. There’s a backlog but it won’t last forever,” said Board Chair James Pepper. Additionally, 365 prequalification applications are incomplete. Social Equity Chair of the Board, James Pepper, started off the meeting with the Board’s stance on the difference between victims of cannabis prohibition and those who intentionally violated the law. “There’s a difference between someone who has been negatively impacted by cannabis prohibition and someone who is flagrantly violating the law,” Pepper said. “There’s a difference between someone who has been negatively impacted by cannabis prohibition and someone who is flagrantly violating the law,” Pepper said.
