Jeff supported marijuana reform as a matter of public policy, but he was passionate about the cause because it was personal to his family. My wife has nerve damage and I have no issue saying it, I said it in front of the House committee, I will be a criminal the rest of my life—I have no problems with that—because I refuse to see my best friend of 30+ years succumb to opioid overdose. I refuse to see that. I refuse to let a lawmaker decide that’s what’s best for her.” Jeff served as Chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus and was instrumental in getting marijuana reform added to the Texas GOP Platform. He was an excellent representative of the movement at the Capitol and in his community. Jeff’s contributions to our shared cause will not be forgotten and I am deeply grateful for our friendship.
