Both were released pending an appearance in court on May 10, 2021. Robberies of pot and accessory shops are hardly new. Two years ago, the owner of a cannabis store in Niagara Falls, Ont. was awoken after receiving a call from an alarm company, also at 1:30 a.m. In early 2020, a Tokyo Smoke outlet in Oshawa, Ont. was robbed by masked and armed thieves who emptied the dispensary tills before fleeing to a waiting vehicle. And in late 2019, Edmonton police reported there had been four such thefts in just a month.
