The thousands of plants were eradicated and the 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) of finished product taken for destruction, the MCSO reports. In California, both medicinal and recreational cannabis are legal. Those 21 and older can even grow as many as six plants — which must be located within a single private residence or inside a fully enclosed and secure structure on the grounds of a private residence — but cultivating more than that can result in a misdemeanor charge, six months in jail and a US$500 ($630) fine.
