Sub-zero temperatures overnight resulted in snow falling in several areas across Birmingham and the Black Country. Snow was expected to continue over the next couple of days. “Thanks to the snow today NTF3 were able to find a cannabis grow in #Erdington when officers noticed it wasn’t settling on the properties (sic) roof,” notes a police tweet . Dutch police had a similar experience almost six years ago when they discovered a cannabis grow after witnessing no-show snow on the roof of a property. Last year, the Northamptonshire Police issued landlords tips for spotting cannabis factories, emphasizing that community intelligence is critically important in identifying these illegal operations. Some of those signs include curtains and windows closed and drawn, even in hot weather; smells coming from the address that could indicate cannabis is being grown; light coming from roof spaces or leaking through the building in odd places; sounds of fans constantly running; rubbish bags full of garden related waste and condensation on the windows. The Merseryside Police add to that list to watch for heat from an adjoining property and birds gathering on a roof in cold weather.…
