‘Notorious drug dealer’ Madam Caroline arrested in Nigeria

A ‘notorious’ and twice-convicted drug dealer has been arrested in Nigeria, reports Vanguard News . Officials with the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency Kano State Command say the woman, who was identified as Madam Caroline, was arrested earlier this week while transporting more than 500 kilograms of cannabis from Lagos in a container truck. Also arrested was a young man travelling the same road with more than 200 kg of cannabis in his Honda Accord and a gateman in Bichi Local Government Area, who was found in possession of 87 kg of bud. According to the drug enforcement agency, more than 1,100 kg of cannabis was seized in October. The investigation is ongoing and additional suspects have been identified. “This woman, a notorious drug dealer, was convicted twice, and now she is going to be a third offender by the grace of God, and has finally met her Waterloo,” an official said. According to ProjectCBD , there are currently seven legal cannabis producers in Africa. South Africa decriminalized personal and commercial cannabis cultivation in 2018 and the continent’s first commercial cultivation licence, backed by Canadian investors , was issued in 2017 in Lesotho. In 2018, Zimbabwe also legalized medical marijuana cultivation and Zambia legalized the cultivation and exportation of cannabis earlier this year.
