In February 2018, law enforcement officials in Rutherford County, Tennessee, raided 23 stores and arrested 17 business owners for selling what they suspected was candy and other products infused with cannabis, which is illegal in the state. The raid was nicknamed ‘Operation Candy Crush’ and saw the involvement of Rutherford County Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh, district attorney John Zimmerman and assistant district attorney general Jennings Jones.
