Delighted mum reveals Ava to begin cannabis treatment –

Irish cannabis campaigner Vera Twomey has announced that her daughter Ava will begin her medical cannabis treatment today in Holland.The Cork mother travelled to the Netherlands last week to get medicinal cannabis for her sick daughter.Ava suffers from a severe form of epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome which can be treated with medicinal cannabis oil.Ms Twomey posted a video to Facebook last night informing people that her daughter is to begin receiving CBD and THC medication today.”Today we had a doctor’s appointment and have begun Ava on her treatment,” she said.”The most important thing is that Ava has gained access to medical CBD and medical THC over here in the Netherlands by a doctor and will be dispensed in the morning for her.”She went on to describe how medical professionals she has met in Holland are “confused and appalled” that the treatment is not available for a patient like Ava in Ireland.Vera has been a vocal campaigner for the treatment to be made available in Ireland and has raised over €21,000 through a fundraising campaign for Ava.
